212 Degrees
July 3rd, 2008At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, it boils.
And with boiling water, comes steam. And with steam, you can power a train.
One extra degree = Exponential results

This theory can be applied to many different parts of our lives. I first saw this video a few weeks ago in a sales oriented training course I attended for work. The most successful people work hard day in and day out. They all go that extra degree. Some worked so hard for such a long time and even though they weren’t successful right away they kept on sweating and bleeding for what they wanted, what they were passionate about.
The more you work for what you believe in and what you are passionate about the better chances you have of reaching your goals.
As you all know one of my goals is to become healthy and lose weight. I invest a good part of my day making sure I get there. I make time to be active (even if it’s just a walk) every day even if I don’t have the time to do so. I make time to eat correctly even if I have to eat out. I plan good healthy meals when I’m home to make sure my hunger is satisfied.
Another one of my goals is to help my company better service our customer by using Social Media avenues. Which means when I’m not doing my normal job, I’m taking every moment I can to work on my social media skills, form new contacts, search out customers issues online (Twitter, Facebook, Newsgroups) and try my best to resolve their issues. Since this really isn’t part of my normal job it takes up a lot of my time off the clock.
I even drove 4 hours each way on Monday to attend a Q&A event my company hosted and it was a great success and I was happy to be a part of it. You can find a video of it here. (By the way that is the back of my bald head taking pictures. Thanks Steve)
So why am I putting in all this extra time? Because I want to go the extra degree. I want to do my best to make sure the Social Media project we have started will be successful. I want our customers to be more then satisfied with our services and even if they decide to go elsewhere at least they will leave knowing that we did our best to service them.
*Update because of all my hard work I was told I could take over the customer service section of the Social Media aspect of my company. If I didn’t put all that extra time in and go that extra degree, that never would of happened. I still have a long way to go to get where I want to be but this is a great first step. I thank my company for believing in me.
I hope you enjoy and are motivated by the video below.
